href=\"https:\/\/ksbtdanang.vn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CDC Da Nang<\/a>), in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/vietnam\/vi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UNICEF Viet Nam<\/a>, successfully organized the Conference on Reviewing School-Based Interventions to Improve Access to Clean Water, Sanitation, and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and proposed a plan for citywide scaling-up in Da Nang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was held within the framework of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/tin-tuc\/hanh-trinh-thuc-hien-du-an-cfci-hca-ii-da-nang\/\">Child-Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI)<\/a> \u2013 Da Nang, 2023\u20132026\u201d and the \u201cHealthy Cities for Adolescents (<a href=\"https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/\">HCA<\/a>-II)\u201d project, funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationbotnar.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Fondation Botnar<\/a> and managed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecorys.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ecorys<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image participants, including representatives from the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training, district People\u2019s Committees, health centers, and school health officers from seven project wards and districts (i.e. Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Cam Le, Hoa Vang, Son Tra, Lien Chieu, and Ngu Hanh Son), experts and consultants from UNICEF Viet Nam and the social enterprise T\u00f2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conference Objectives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In her opening remarks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien Minh, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/vietnam\/vi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UNICEF Viet Nam<\/a>\u2019s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Specialist, emphasized the objectives of the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To review the results and lessons learned from implementing the clean water\u2013sanitation\u2013personal hygiene component across 20 schools under the project (2024\u20132025).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To share challenges and solutions toward more innovative and sustainable approaches;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To introduce MHM education models integrated into lessons, extracurricular activities, and creative communication initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To discuss and agree on a roadmap for scaling up clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education across Da Nang City, with a view to nationwide replication Highlights<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Ms. Vo Thi Duy Le, Head of the Environmental Health and School Health Division, CDC Da Nang, the project achieved several concrete results over the past two years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>20 schools developed and implemented action plans on clean water, sanitation, and MHM for the 2024\u20132025 academic year, accompanied by comprehensive training for teachers and staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developed and distributed handbooks, extracurricular learning materials, conversation card sets, and communication videos to raise students\u2019 awareness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivered MHM-themed lessons and interactive extracurricular sessions through plays, dances, wall newspapers, songs, and drawings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducted creative communication campaigns in schools that combined learning and fun, helping students remember key messages on handwashing with soap, personal hygiene, and health girls) were indirectly reached through communication and awareness-raising activities conducted across the 20 participating schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A notable presentation came from the \u201cLeaders of Change\u201d Club at Nguyen Phu Huong Secondary School, which shared its peer-to-peer communication model to enhance students\u2019 knowledge and correct practices on menstrual students through communication activities has transformed a sensitive topic into relatable stories, helping raise awareness and change behaviors among students.
