Since 2016, the Children\u2019s Council, piloted in seven districts by Da Nang Youth Union, has provided a platform for children to express their views and share their aspirations on issues they care about.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" class=\"wp-image-14166\" src=\"https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/DSC08872449-1568x1045.jpg 1568w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Expanding the Children&#8217;s Council Model with UNICEF&#8217;s Support<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>As part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/hcadanang.com\/en\/about-us\/\">Child Friendly City Initiative (CFCI) and the Healthy Cities for Adolescents Phase II (HCA-II)<\/a> project in Da Nang (2023-2026), which is funded by Botnar Foundation and managed by Ecorys, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/vietnam\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">UNICEF Vietnam<\/a> has partnered with the Da Nang Youth Union to expand this model to commune and ward levels.<br \/>.<\/p>\n\n<p>In November 2024, ten additional Children\u2019s Councils were established in new communes and wards, bringing the total to 31 out of 56 across the city. These new locations include:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hoa Lien and Hoa Tien Communes (Hoa Vang District)<\/li>\n\n<li>Hoa Khanh Bac Ward (Lien Chieu District)<\/li>\n\n<li>Thuan Phuoc and Thanh Binh Wards (Hai Chau District)<\/li>\n\n<li>Thanh Khe Tay and An Khe Wards (Thanh Khe District)<\/li>\n\n<li>My An Ward (Ngu Hanh Son District)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Children\u2019s Voices: Innovative Initiatives for a Better Da Nang<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>During elections with the theme \u201cWhat would you do if you became the Chairperson of the Commune\/Ward Children\u2019s Council?\u201d, delegates (aged 9-15) confidently presented their initiatives and ideas. Discussions covered a wide range of issues, including:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physical and mental health<\/li>\n\n<li>School nutrition<\/li>\n\n<li>Preventing violence in schools and online<\/li>\n\n<li>Environmental protection and plastic waste reduction<\/li>\n\n<li>Child protection and self-protection skills<\/li>\n\n<li>Reducing academic pressure and creating spaces for creative play<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>The innovative use of technology to address children\u2019s issues was particularly impressive. Children proposed the establishment of community libraries, playgrounds for disadvantaged children, and support programs for children in need.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Children\u2019s Council: Fostering Skills, Driving Change<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Children\u2019s Council is not only platforms for self-expression but also valuable spaces for developing crucial skills such as public speaking, communication, and teamwork. A representative from the Da Nang Youth Union emphasized: \u201cThe Children\u2019s Council bridges the gap between children\u2019s opinions and city leaders, boosting children\u2019s confidence and enabling them to contribute to their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Towards a Da Nang Where No One is Left Behind<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The Children\u2019s Council is a clear demonstration of the commitment to promoting children\u2019s participation and building a friendly, healthy, and sustainably developing Da Nang.
